DotA 2 Discussion.

Are you guys planning on leaving Warcraft III for DotA 2? I tried Heroes of Newerth, graphics are nice but the game play is worse than Warcraft's. Don't even get me started on the community... League of Legends is nice, I'm not familiar with the heroes and everything, but It's so much better than HoN, not to mention it's free. However, I'm a die-hard Warcraft III/DotA fan, so I was pretty stoked to see that DotA 2 is coming in a bit. They're also going to remodel heroes so they're not just WC III models, I've seen Strygwyr, and let me tell you that he looks amazing! They've also shown Lina, who looks more tribal and exotic, along with Morphling and Traxex. I hope that DotA 2 is going to be better than HoN and LoL, I mean it's being produced by Valve; Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike, Half Life 2, Portal - I don't think that these guys are going to let the public down, anyways what do you guys think?

Although I haven't played DotA in WC3, I have played League of Legends, which is pretty fun. Valve + DotA has to equate to some sort of win anyway.

While I don't like HoN, I must say that it is a completely different game than HoN. The HoN forums are filled with either bragging or strategies, while (I've never actually visited LoL forums) LoL forums are probably friendlier. LoL is for casuals while HoN is for gamers. You can tell by the graphics and heroes involved. Hope Valve does justice with an actual sequel of DotA though.

I think Valve are going to have to find some way to ease new players in to the game. DotA, HoN, LoL... all three of those have quite a steep learning curve that can easily put a new player off. Plus, it doesn't help that the DotA community are quick to flame when you make a mistake. If Valve are hoping to attract a new audience with this game -- and not just the old school DotA crowd -- they pretty much have to include a single player campaign that walks you through the game step-by-step, but doesn't feel like a 2 hour tutorial.

Yeah, the DotA community is full of dickwads. But I hear they're implementing a coaching system in DotA 2, and there'll be a feedback system. So it sounds pretty inciting to me.

I play DotA for a long time and started playing LoL a few months ago; DotA is by far greater so I'm really looking forward to playing DotA 2!

Never got into the whole DotA craze. When people started playing that I was still playing BW because I was too cheap and too unresourceful at the time to get my own copy of WC3. Missed out on that era.
