    Default Easy-as-Pie Video Burning Thread

    Foreward:
I wrote a tutorial a while back on ripping DVDs and writing them to your hard disk as compressed files such as .AVIs, .WMAs, .MPEGs, and .MKVs. Now I'll be telling you how to do the opposite: how to burn your backups to a blank DVD.

    The Concept:
Ripping your DVDs from their physical form to digital data provides the ability more than ever to preserve the data on those discs. Writing these backups to a new non-original DVD allows increased usability of the backups while stil preserving your original disc. The goal is to write your backups to a replaceable dvd.

    Tools Needed:

    • DVD-RW Drive to write to a DVD
    • A Blank DVD-5 or DVD-9 of your choice. Normal single ayer (Dvd-5) DVD-R will work best on most older players, while DVD+R is generally the better choice for modern players.
    • ConvertXToDVD

    Notice

Linked is the trial version of the software needed to do this, if you are in need of the full version please shoot me a PM and i'll gladly point you in the right direction.

    Getting Started

    The MOVIE!!

    Using ConvertXToDvd

This process is rather simple, select the video file using the green plus file to open the file.

With the file selected we are free to choose our menu style for the movie, the title of the copy, and even quality settings

First we are going to change the menu style.

Its just as simple as cycling through the top value and choosing the style you want

Now we are going to have some fun changing the title screen background.

After these basic settings have been changed, its time to choose video quality!

Click the settings icon, denoted by the arrow.

Select Video Processing, and ensure the settings are as shown here.

Now to ensure quality, you may choose between short and long play, and DVD-5 (single layer) and DVD-9 (Dual Layer), for enhanced quality and video time.

Now, pop in a blank DVD of your choice (Don't buy Memorex!!) and click Convert. After a couple hours, you should be rockin' the best damn bootleg you've ever seen

I'm a fan of handbrake for encoding.

I've always used ConvertX for DVD encoding, but handbrake for everything else. I suppose I can do a tutorial for Handbrake, if others would like a totally free where way of doing it.

There's also a 'macro' for handbrake that is idiot-proof.
