Default Is anyone else waiting to update their PS3 firmware?

I have one of the original 60GB models with h/w backwards compatibility and OtherOS support, and I actually use my Linux partition (I actually have a 500GB HDD in my PS3 specifically so I can hold both media plus all my *nix stuff), and so I have delayed updating to see if Geohot comes through with custom firmware to keep the feature. Is anyone else waiting, or even care (out of curiosity)?

Am waiting. I've done far too much in my linux partition to bother update. I use the other os more than I use games.

    It doesn"t matter, i have a slim.
Tho, at $300 i might even buy a second ps3 for having all my games on the HDD without having to move out of my bed and swap disc whenever i want to play a different game.

I never bothered to put linux on mine so it does not really bother me to update.

I would personally wait for GeoHot regardless of whether you're on a slim / fat ps3.

Who knows what the future may hold

Apparently for the time being (until Geohot actually releases custom firmware) setting your PS3's DNS server to 67.202.81.137 will allow you to log in to PSN without having to install the 3.21 update. I don't have any information on how it works or how shady it is (so you probably shouldn't conduct any credit card transactions over it) but I can confirm that whatever man-in-the-middle exploit they are using does work, both in allowing me to connect to PSN and still boot up my Linux partition.

It's using the European PSN where the firmware isn't released yet lol.
    College, gogo.
