I bet if you add tags to your thread when you first make it, it'll override the Edit Tags button.
Adding tags is for lazy thread creator--like myself. (also abuse) Having a tag option when the thread creator already has one is kinda stupid.

Tags are for the search engine on BWH. When you make a tag on a thread with the description, people who are searching for that description will find that thread.

But, I see no problem with the tags on this thread. Very handy, in my opinion.

as we cant really specify "gold members" as not being the cancer killing /bwh/ anymore, since most of them are noobish kids who just bought zero, how about top contributing members (2k+ posts or something, maybe lower)

Its not like it would be the type of thing people would spam to achieve the ability to do (with the exception of kjew)

Also; staff only wouldn't be very effective.

If you sorted abuse by post count you would probably find most of the abusers have higher post counts.

That would be too much work for the moderators to keep up with, they have enough load as it is putting up with all the idiotic things that occur on BWH.

If you would take notice to all the spam / posts that they punish its all the same people. Probably the same people that are abusing the tags.
