power supply? If your ever going to crossfire, make sure you have enough 4 pins or wtever. I used every one of mine for just my 260.

also, 4850 or 4870 are the only two I'd consider.

and I love my XClio, its the one with the two 25cm fans on the side.

Get a better motherboard than that. I'd recommend at least an AMD 780g chipset for your motherboard, if only for forwards compatibility and the added performance. And they are inexpensive as far as mobo's go.

In terms of a case, I will always recommend any of the three Antec Gamer Series Cases(the 300, 900, and 1200) or any of the newer Lian-Li mid/full tower models.

For the case make sure you get a full case it's the only thing that will fit the new coming cards so get this Newegg.com - Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043) or either this Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160) for the psu get this Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006) for the gpu get this Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102801) sure it's overkill but at that price hell you can't beat it. why are you only getting a 80 gig IDE hard drive if your getting vista 64bit which you need it will take atleast 60% of that hard drive. Also why not go Intel get a nice 8400 on a nice coolmaster you can overclock that thing way past 4ghz.

Btw, Arctic Silver 5 is like glue. Good luck pulling your heatsink from the socket, without whacking out the CPU with it.
You'd probably end up better with stock thermal pads.

As for the GPU, I'd probably get a 4870. 4850s on stock cooling are noisy and definitely too hot, so you'll end up modding the cooling on those anyway.

If you're going to Crossfire somewhere in the future, get a powerful PSU (preferrably around 600-700W or higher). Then just pick any case you like.

i have that power supply, its cool, but i used all the power (pci-e?) cords on my 260.

the cords are the ones that are wrapped in nylon and theres a switch to manually turn off the power supply. Its also REALLY LONG lol.

I hope you don't do any heavy gaming or photo shopping, also what os are you going to use if you don't plan to use any 64bit then that 4 gigs of ram was a waste and could of been spent some where else. Why does 700 dollars seem so much for that computer.

You do realise you cant use 1066 with that proc only 800 unless you have a phenom or the new x2 based on the phenom . Your going to have to clock it down. You could have saved money and got 800.

DSG picked all of this out for me, and I trust him way more then you guys. haha Far as heavy gaming the review for the proc and gpu were very good and said they both overclocked very well. Crysis, tf2, farcry2, etc on max res and max settings.

lol, crysis on a 4830, are you kidding, maybe the other parts, but that 4830 cant handle crysis maxed out on 800x600 much less anything higher.

First review. Crysis on max settings at a high res.

Crysis is more of a cpu game then anything and that proc would die more then anything I think the cpu is more of a bottleneck then the gpu and if you think you can run crysis on max settings your sadly mistaking I can barely run all my setting on gamer without dipping way below 30 fps on a 1 gig 4870

Antihaxer

In the reviews for my proc everyone was getting between 30-45 fps so if you don't actually have the proc then stfu and gtfo.

No matter how stressful you think Crysis may be on the CPU, it's not nearly as stressful as IntelBurnTest (program link is in sig).

Also guys, please do not spread FUD and lies about AMD processors.

high res is like 1920x1200 and up not that, and you said high settings, that has AA off, == fail.

w/e when your ram doesn't work at that speed don't come crying to me.

I don't think that he would go crying to you he would most likely just go and buy new ram.

CrazyGerbilEater
12-24-2008, 02:27 PM
why would he buy new ram and not just run it at lower speeds?

I didn't mean it literally.

Oh and since he already bought it its not worth the hassle to send it back he should just run it at lower speed and tighten up the timing.
