This software just saved my computer. I let my mom use my computer while I was at school because hers was broken, I got home and I had more trojans/maleware than I have ever seen on my computer. Basically it started when she clicked something that said I had a virus than everything got messed up from there. Firefox got infested with some virus that makes a really annoying blank page with a long link appear randomly that apparently searches your documents for personal information. I had to delete firefox and am now using google chrome (which isn't that bad actually).

I am attaching the files removed on the first sweep of system, the others happened on reboot with no internet attached.

edit: one virus has recreated itself, I currently have all the symptoms described

Vundo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vundo)

edit2: not spysweeper, spybot and the vundo infection doesn't have to do with my moms random clicking I don't think since today was the latest rapid release date.

Latest Rapid Release version December 9, 2008 revision 006

Try Spyware Doctor to get rid of what came back.
It got rid of everything that I was having trouble with. :)

I edited the thread name for you

Yeah I use Spybot S&D too, it's a great. I wonder how much they have made off donations.

Thanks, anyone who can help me please add my xfire (cala4). Vundo disabled internet explorer and apparently that caused MSN to stop working.

:P

I'd like to apologize to google since when this browser came out I was one of the people saying it sucked and now if I didn't have it I wouldn't have been able to install spybot and therefore wouldn't have known about my new virus or the 90 other trojans/maleware that had been removed (successfully).

A scan with Kaspersky, Spybot and Combofix usually solves most of the problems.

Thank you so much for that removal kit. It removed all the remaining adware (and apparently it doesn't like limewire because it hit that as well). I than wrote down the .dll's that were hiding in my sys.32 folder and deleted them in safe mode. running another sweep now to get whatever is left over, thanks for everything.

I noticed that in safe mode you still cannot delete this virus but thanks to spybot I was able to use the file shredder included to eat the .dll's :D

I also found viruses that have been running in the background of my computer for a long time today.

thanks :)

also, does anyone know how dangerous the prunnet.exe virus would have been if I didn't find it?

Eppie

It's a trojan, so I'm guessing it just allows other stuff to be installed.

yeah. Last thing I am trying to remove is hard to get to because it is in the temporary folder but that folder isn't showing up were it should when I go to the area it should be. trying to get rid of that antivirus2008 virus that pops up telling you to buy it, it is a .exe that got installed by the trojans I just removed. Anyone know a way to get into the temp folder if it doesn't show up?

What do you mean it doesn't show up? Is it hidden?

Do you have view hidden folders and files enabled?

I can't figure out how to set that in this folder, in properties right now but that isn't doing anything.

edit: never mind found it.

That's a good thing. Use BitTorrent instead.
