Hey Everyone,
Im upgrading my Desktop's RAM and CPU. I was wondering if someone could help me in knowing if these are compatable with my system. What I have is a HP. The specs are located at this site...
HP Pavilion TV a6077c Desktop PC*-* Product Specifications* (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00880853&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&product=3401269&lang=en)
What I want to install is
Newegg.com - Intel Pentium D 950 Presler 3.4GHz 2 x 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116240)
(For the Processor)
Newegg.com - Kingston ValueRAM 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Desktop Memory - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144151)
(4 of them for the RAM)

Now im sorry if it seems as though im a noob at this, cause as you can see I sort of am. Thanks in advance for looking!:cool2:

Lol, a Core 2 to Pentium D would be essentially downgrading. >.<

True that.

Core TWO > One core

The Pentium D DOES have two cores, but it's based on NetBurst Microarchitecture, which is inferior to the Core 2 Microarchitecture.

Ex: a 2.4 GHz Core 2 would easily stomp a 6+ GHz Pentium D.

This is not an upgrade. Pentium D doesn't have the FSB to run high speed memory, it's probably 533 Max.

Which is probably why you chose to "upgrade" to 533MHz DDR2. But you should stick with the c2d cpu and get fast memory, at least 667MHz or 800. You can get 1200MHz DDR2 now, I think...

by 2.6Ghz do you mean E6700?
It will make you cum cuz of the speed.
But seriously.... I'd get quad core....
