CompUSA usually has a decent selection of multi use power adapters.

Looks like a ps2 cable. Not the system but the port. It's the one usually used for your mouse

If I'm right than just go buy a ps/2 cable from pretty well any 'computer' store

Just because it looks similar doesn't mean it will perform anywhere near the same function..

I know that. But appearance is all I have to go by since I don't have an external drive

you MUST, i SAY AGAIN MUST ensure voltage and amperage are the same before trying different power supplies.

^ he is absolutely right if the amperage arent the same you'll fry something. ask the manufacturer to be certain before doing anything you might regret.

There is no manufacture on the box or on the external, it's a generic external, theres no phone number in the manual or anything. It's some Japanese company that spells you "u".

im telling you, i lost mine about 2 years ago and i gave up looking for a power cord because i cannot find one anywhere that will work.

Find an electronics supply store. Not a radio shack, an actual supply store. Look in the phone book or ask radio shack if they know where one is. You may have a better chance of them being able to help you.
