Like the title says, does anyone know how I can rip the audio from youtube?

Either use a program to rip the video file and then separate the audio from th at, or use a sound recorder and set the input to your sound card output. There's a thread in the prank forum on how to record stuff like that.

IF you can't do what Pete said, you can always play the file and record it with an audio editor, such as free Audacity. (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

This may cary for different sound cards.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control
or
right click on the little speaker icon in the system tray
or get to your sound card settings
Go to Options > Properties
Click Recording under the "Adjust Volume for" and hit ok
The Recording Control comes up instead of Volume Control
With my Creative sound card, you select "What U Hear", but it very well might be "Output" or something along those lines.
Get Audacity, or some other wave program. Hit record on that. Hit play on the video.

That's how I got music back when I was forbidden from using KaZaA. I would use Audacity and record the output from www.launch.com.

I have a plugin for my firefox. This plugin includes on every youtube or google video ... site a download link for the videos. very easy to use.
1. get greasemonkey (http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/)
2. get the plugin/script for download the vid: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/4037

maybe you ll find a script for ripping only the audio. If not just use a tool to convert your downloaded video to only music. gl

I downloaded Audacity, do I just play the file then hit record? Because if thats the case it doesn't seem to be working.

Do what KDS said:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control
or

Go to Options > Properties

I think for most computers, you need to change the audio input from "Microphone" to "Stereo Mix" by selecting the checkbox under "Stereo Mix." This will set audacity to record from the output of your soundcard.
