View Full Version : Who's really the best artist?

For this contest, I'd like to see everyone make an image completely from scratch. You can submit as many original works of art as you'd like; and we'll make a poll when the time comes to determine the nominees/winners.
You may make the image in whatever fashion you'd like; but the choice of which is best will be to the public, so you may want to make something appealing to everyone.
You MUST include the name of the programs used to create image and have start to finsh progress images to prove the artwork is original.

Since it's unrealistic to have some uber fantastic prize for a project like this, I'd like to see every single contestant/voter give rep to the winner. (Much like the sexy challenge)

Can we use stock images?

I'd have to say no. I'd like to see people create a completely original base, and bring it to life by whatever means they like. The thing is.. we have some really good artists around BWHacks, but I've only seen a few people make something completely on their own. I'd like to see what people are really capable of.
I'll be submitting one soon; once it's finished.

Here's an old project; just finished for the competition.
This was done in mspaint - then put through PhotoImpression for blur/shade.

Also I suggest ONE image per person, as multiple ones mean a better chance of winning.

Only one will make it to nominations.

Votes are usually what deem things "standard" or not. I highly doubt the opinions of high school aged (for the majority, besides some old men like Saren and Redderick) can determine who is the "best artist". Especially when considered of how many art styles they're, and what not. Subclassing this tournament (possibly a subforum for competitions on a regular basis) might be a good solution to the abundant amount of possibilities that qualify to be the "best". I hate saying best; it's such an ignorant statement in so many cases.

You're completely right; it's just that so few people are up to the challenge of making something on their own.
The competition/prize is really just for fun, and to get more people to take part. I just want to see people make something original.

More people would be likely to incline if you made the prize something fathomable, yet mysterious. I realize that's contradictory, but what I'm trying to say is you want to entice the people to join the competition. Saying that the prize is worthless isn't going to help.

Lawlz. I'm in no position to offer a mysteriously fathomable prize though. If anyone is really serious about their artwork; they can take it as a personal challenge to prove they aren't just some plaguerist who can play with photoshop. The real winners will stand out, even if they don't infact win.

The last one has some phenominal detailing. What did you use?

The last two are renders then photoshopped.

No, I used DAZ|Studio, I didn't model them though. When I model I use LightWave.

I was gonna say, the last two are phenominal. If you'd render both of those, I would have been truely impressed. They're still nice though.

BTW, is there a deadline? I don't really feel like doing anything right now, and whenever I rush I suck twice as bad.

There's mine. It's not exactly my best, but I don't feel like making something new.

I used Cinema 4D for the render/coloring and Photoshop CS2 for the text and other effects.

EDIT: fixed your link, you added a forward slash after the url.

I should get into rendering. I'm back in the stone ages.
I'd win an mspaint competition hands down though. >.>
