How about, you go through and find the price of every item, and add it up yourself, instead of having other members do it for you? Lazy bastage.

I was asking for help on which parts to choose. And an "idea" not a figure. I was asking for an opinion.

I'd say don't go the X2 3800+ and get an Opteron 165.

1. You can overclock it to actually match the FX-60/FX-62's performance.
2. It has the same cache size as the FX-60/FX-62.
3. It comes with a kickass stock cooler that is better than the XP-90.
4. Opterons overclock very well (except some steppings).

Lowest price is: $315

Also, you're a fool if you go the 7300GT. That is a downgrade from the 6800 GT. You should get the 7900GT (if you can't, get the 7600GT).
http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__MSI_GeForce_7900_GT_Video_Card,__17729950/search=7900GT
Lowest price for the 7900GT: $244.85

Also, you should get this motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127222&ATT=13-127-222&CMP=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r
For $82

FYI: THERE IS NO "FSB" in AMD64. AMD replaced it with a Direct Connect Architecture called "HyperTransport".

WD Caviar SE16 250 GB HD (SATAII):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144701
$84 :) Rebates to $74.

Antec TruPowerII 550 Watt:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931
Very good psu, and stable. Price: $89.99

Also, with Windows Vista rolling around, you should be prepared to upgrade to a DirectX 10 video card. Say, you get the 7900GT now, and wait until september or so when DX 10 cards come out, you can upgrade to that. Or, if you would like to stick around, you can just keep the 7900GT and you'll have to play in DX 9 mode for DX10 games.

And Vista's recommended RAM is 1 GB. So now, you should go 2 GB to prepare for current games, and also Vista.

This is some good, high speed, low latency 2 GB RAM ($179).
