I'm a bit skeptical of most of the "Gold Guides" out there, because they're usually over exaggerated, don't work, or are already being farmed to death, but here's one I tried which worked rather well (from YouTube - World of Warcraft - Westfall Farming? Make 600 gold per hour killing level 13's?? TopGameGuides.com)
Go to the top of Westfall (around 46, 10):
Run up and down the beach (not too far) killing "Sand Cralwer"s - they respawn almost instantly, and are really low level mobs:
Top three rows are what I looted in about 25 mins:
According to Auctioneer addon, that's worth about:
220 gold for 30 minutes of work (including getting there), and you can just keep farming all day long. Crawler meat, crawler claws and clam meat are used for cooking, so should be in fairly high demand.51x clam meat = 89 gold
50x crawler meat = 80 gold
1x recipe = 20 gold
53x crawler claw = 20 gold
1x blue leather bag = 4 gold
3x crawler carapace = 3 gold
1x small lustrous pearl = 1 gold
1x shadowgem = 3 gold
UPDATE:
A better location to do this is 40,11 - much smaller area, with much faster respawn times. Did this in 3 minutes (stormchops and macros ftw), Auctioneer says 50g worth of drops (in 3 mins! :D)

I play the AH, farming's for people who get used by me by reselling their **** at a higher markup.
Besides, my money works for me while I'm doing more important things, like playing HoN or sleeping.

A recipe you'll most likely never use, on my server the only thing worth getting a recipe for is a couple top end enchants, epic gems, and bs/lw patterns from raids. Everything else is totally unprofitable, or at the very least not profitable enough to justify the amount of time you put into it.
Unless the farming as a primary purpose (making money isn't the primary) like rep farming then it's totally wasted time which can be spent doing something better.
If you want some real money, I'd suggest power leveling inscription and (literally) counterfeiting money. Inscription makes a ridiculous amount of money, for very little effort and mat investment. Inscriptions have very little return, but you can practically flood the market and it'll still get bought up because of a very constant demand. It's very low end profit, but it's consistent and high volume. I know several people in the guild who are above 100k gold and they're all inscriptions.
Actual farming isn't actually done anymore, it's not like it was in pre-BC. Chinese don't farm, they make the majority of their money off keylogging and account/toon trading.
It's not really bad, but never just farm by itself. If you work the AH (not talking about selling what you farmed) and toss some raid foods or resell things, then it's pretty ok. Still not time efficient tho. 10 mins at the AH without putting up my own mats can get me several hundred G, you can't compare those gold/time investments anywhere else.
Work smart, not hard.

Mining/herb are the farming professions. Also, I bg'd a lot because I was bored of this ****ty game, so I just spent the honor on epic gems and they went for about 100g a piece. Probably much different now, but whatever. This game sucks. Should just stop playing and go farm real crab meat.

Lawls I'd just spec affliction and swim around in the lake over next to shat (at 70) and over in that lake in Dragonblight. 10-20 Primale/eternal waters in 20 minutes? Kthnxbai. Swim swim swim dot dot dot. Very good to watch a movie and do![]()

The idea behind the clam and crawler meat is that it's used for leveling up cooking - so in theory it should always be in demand.
gamepin126: I don't care much for rep - I'm simply not a "die hard" gamer, with hours to spend every day - and don't mind if I miss out on those one or two uber rare (cloth) items, or recipe... so farming for rep seems like a waste to me. I'll give inscription a try (got 450 enchanting and tailoring on my main so guess I'll create a DK).
As for the auction house, I've been using Auctioneer for ages (and I think I know what I'm doing), there's just never anything worth reselling. I make most my gold disenchanting (either via the "disenchant" or "enchant mats" searches) - but even then you're generally looking at a max profit of 15 gold, with the average being around 2 gold - and selling netherweave bags.
Here's an example from Auctioneer's "resell": 7x Shadowgem's for 7gold, average going price is 2 gold each... so I have to sell 7 of the damn things, just to make 7 gold profit? And that's in the top 10% of the results (sorted by profit). The 2nd most profitable (already bought the 1st) is 3x Nether Vortex at 45 gold, which I can sell for 30 gold each - so best case scenario I profit 45 gold... except there are currently 5 listed at 15g each (which would mean I'd have to sell them for cost, or hold onto them until the market changes). The majority of the results are either under 2 gold worth of profit, or enchant scrolls and glyphs - of which there are plenty listed at a time, and I really don't believe sell that well.
I'd rather be farming Nascent Val'kyr's for Dissolved Soul Essence... at 100% drop rate and 65 silver each to a vendor, you've got a fairly steady (though low) income. Plus the Valkyrion Aspirant's sometimes drome Relics of Ulduar - so they're worth some gold, if you accidentally aggro them.

use beancounter and find stuff on the AH that's under sold, and resell it higher

Waaa???
Im a enchanter/jewelcrafter. Aside from buying dragons eye, and making nightmares tear, and the occasional epic gem selling most of my money comes from working the AH. For instance, I buy 50 gold of mats x 20, pay a tailor a portion of cash for making my leg enchants. Then sell them for almost 5 times what it costs to make.
Same with raid foods, flasks, enchants, glyphs, leg kits, potions.

Without farming for mats, these look to be the most profitable raid foods for me to sell:
Hearty Rhino - 2.75g profit
Grilled Sculpin - 2g profit
Snapper Extreme - 2g profit
(Fish Feasts vary, average cost of mats is 11g, current selling price is 10g)
And that's assuming they do actually sell, which they probably wont do in very large quantities. All I have to do is kill 3x Nascent Val'kyrs (1min max) at a faster rate than those foods sells, for it to be more profitable...

And what about the embroidery's? And your proccing w/e spec cloth every what, 4 days right?

Yeah, I make 120 gold profit from Ebonweave (x2, so 60g each), 75 gold from Moonshroud, 130g from Spellweave every 4 days, so that's less than 100g/day average, but obviously better than none.
The only embroiderys that are profitable are Azure Spellthread (average 15gold profit), and Shining Spellthread (6gold profit), but neither sell very well - maybe 2 or 3 a week.
I'm starting to think the server I'm on is too old/mature, and everyone's already leveled and enchanted up and running around with high level gear (less market for the lower level stuff).

Or your servers too dead and lazy, not pushing any content nor raiding like a real raiding community. In which case, nobody cares about enchants flasks or anything of that sort. Your economy is ****ed. Servers like Illidan and Blackrock are awesome because I can put up 10 stacks of cloth at 3 in the morning and sell it.

When I played, I would use Auctioneer and troll the AH a bit looking for things to resell, and always scanned a few times a day incase I came across something valuable while questing/grinding. For 5min 3x a day, you'll be making twice what you would with grinding, with 1/100th the effort.
