Sorry for addressing a closed topic, but there does exist a legally free version fo Visual Basic 5.0 called "Visual Basic Control Creation Edition". It includes all the standard features of the Visual Basic 5.0 IDE, the only difference is you cannot compile portable standalone executables (*.exe's). You can however, run your code from within the IDE, and create ActiveX COM Controls (*.ocx's).
