Lets talk breaking the HTT 230 limit on k10 here - XtremeSystems Forums (Shows that K10's OC much differently than K8's)

Woo go AMD!
The horsepower on these things is totally unnecessary. Most people haven't even adapted dual core technology, and by the time anything even requires 4 cores to operate, there will be processors out 4x better.
isnt 3ghz default speed on the penryn(or 3.2), and overclock by about 600mhz on the phenom. overclock the penryn as far as itll go on air and do the same with the phenom, then tell me performance results, anything else is pointless
from what ive read you can reach 4ghz on air with the penryn

ok so... when the penryn is oc it will rape the phenom overclock.

This is clock for clock perf.
It's not who can get the most perf. all-end.
It's like saying a P4 that CAN clock at 5GHZ crushes an A64 simply because it runs FASTER at a HIGHER clock.
Q6600 @ 3.6GHz 1.32v
9800GX2 @ 700/1752/1000
4GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 2.0v
ASUS P5Q-E

Regardless.
The performance difference between the Penryn flagship, and AMD equivelant is nominal while stock, and moreso while overclocked. Penryn takes the lead per clock on both ends, in most fields.

AMD's acquisition of ATI will enable them to sell packaged systems which may hit budget conscious gamers though. So greater chip technology may not always equate to better product in the grander scheme of things.
The centrino was very similar in this respect because it came packaged with a matching intel chipset and on board video for business computers despite its vastly underpowered per clock rating compared to its amd competition.
For the love of all things nerdrage: it's saren, not Saren.
All you have to do is copy and paste the moniker.
It's like watching a pack of retarded baboons have sex. Yeah, they're screwing, but you know they're still going to manage to screw screwing up somehow.

i really dont give a **** which one sells more, i just care wich one is better so I know what to buy.

Penryn does indeed outperform AMD in many respects, but like Ray brought up here, it does ourperform Intel in some situations. That, combined with being cheaper (and liek Saren brought up, not just for the processor, but for the whole system) and the fact that we don't want Intel to be so far of AMD that they can dictate the market again, that we should all buy Phenoms.

why would I have compatibility issues? And I'm not a ****ing poor jew like you, and don't care if I have to spen a couple hundred bucks.

I have a $3000 dollar desktop that I'm posting from and a 1600 3.8lbs laptop. I also have a 32 inch lcd tv, blu-ray player, xbox 360, wii, and a 6.1 surround sound system in my apartment as a college student.
I wouldn't exactly suggest I am, by any means, poor.
Despite the fact my desktop is over 1.5 years old, I bet you it's a lot better than whatever piece of crap you're posting from.

3 types of buyers in my mind
Pure performance
Performance per dollar
and pure cost
Pure performance people, the intels win by a landslide so far.
Performance per dollar, the intels and amd seem to be competing, amd however seems to be trying to win this over.
Pure cost, i read somewhere amd is selling, or will sell the cheapest quad core on the market. so id guess amd may be winning this market.(however its slower than the q6600 by a bit)
all this being based on articles ive been reading the past 2 weeks(trying to catch up on tech news)
q6600 @ 3.6 would pwnt a 3gig phenom, and thats a 1 year old cpu..
penryn @ 4.2 ON AIR would make it even worse for amd

He was just trying to bring up the point that he us not cheap, and that the bulk of people on the internet have shotty comps, I beleive, as that would further his point.
And why the **** do you play source with a computer like that. Play some CoD4 or Crysis or something.
