Hi everyone,
Has anybody had any luck getting multiple computers using the same connection (via router) to play in the same game on Bnet? I've been looking into this for a really long time, and no matter what I try, nothing works!
The problem is this: I have 2 computer sharing the internet with a Linksys router. The router's LAN IP is 192.168.15.1, and the IP for computers and other things are 192.168.15.100 to 192.168.15.150. So far I have 2 computers 192.168.15.100 and 192.168.15.102 (I other things as well, like print servers, etc...).
A long time ago Overflow told me that Battlenet won't work like this because both computers have the same IP address, but Ickypoopy replied that it WOULD work because the computer's have 2 seperate connections to Battlenet and they SHOULD be coming in through seperate ports.
So after a long time of researching, I found out that WCIII has an option that lets you change the ports its using, but Starcraft doesn't! After more researching, I found that there IS a way to change the ports SC uses by editing the registry. I modified it like this:
On my 192.168.15.100 computer's registry, I added the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Battle.net\Configuratio n
Added DWORD key "Game Data Port" with the following data:"6120"
Knowing that the default ports are 6112-6119, I assumed SC needed 7 ports starting at the one I chose, so I chose 6120.
Now on my router, I port-forwarded the following:
APPLICATION | START | END | PROTOCOL | IP ADDRESS
Star | 6112 6119 | Both-TCP/UDP | 192.168.15.102
Star2 | 6120 6127 | Both-TCP/UDP | 192.168.15.100
After all of this, it still doesn't work. Whenever I try to play in the same game as my other computer, it lags very badly, and eventually I get dropped.
Has anybody else done this before?
Thanks in advance
I think you need to obtain another IP from your ISP.
