oooo nice avatar. Awesome, do you think it's worth getting Vista if I just want to run games like Starcraft 2 (even though the system requirements are unknown), Call of Duty 4 or Battlefield 2142?. All I would need is a couple upgrades (cpu and RAM) and I think it would handle it.

What OS are you currently running? I would not recommend getting vista, It's junk.

I use vista and I like it. There are downsides such as the violation of privacy. But all in all its the best Windows you can get.
My friends got Vista but he already wants to downgrade to XP. He can't get SC to install. We had to install it on his flash drive on my comp so he could play.
My buddy has SC on his laptop and it works fine. He can't use any hacks though.
If you know like I know, you should lie low, I used to get it in Ohio.. You lost the game.
.
I believe 64-Bit versions of Vista or even XP for that matter can not run Starcraft. But i am in no way a 100% sure.
I have Windows Vista x86 Ultimate version and starcraft installed fine for me. Not a single hitch or hick up. I also have Battlefield 2 installed, didn't have any problems with that either. Vista has worked fine for me in all aspects except for my bluetooth dongle, that's the only thing that isn't working. Apart from that, everything is sweet.
Btw I'm running the following system:
Intel Core2Duo E4300 @ 2.4Ghz
2GB DDR2 Ram (on dual-channel setting)
512mb DDR2 8600GT (I think) Graphics

Starcraft works fine on XP x64 with its WOW64 emulation.
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
CPU: Intel C2Q Q9650 @ 4.0 GHz (9x445), 1.31v [IntelBurnTest stable]
GPU/Monitor: Visiontek HD 4870 X2 @ 800 MHz/4000 MHz +SyncMaster245BW 24"
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Deluxe (BIOS 2203)
Memory: 8 GB (4x 2 GB) OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2 1066 @ 1069 MHz
Hard Drive: 2x Seagate 500 GB 7200.11 (Matrix RAID) + 1x WD Caviar Black 640 GB
Sound: Creative SB X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W

I am running Windows XP Home on a Dell Dimension e521 and here are my specs in the 2 screenshots. I basically got it from dell before they started shipping all their computers with Vista as a standard. So now I think I want to give it another gig of ram and upgrade the processor to dual core. It's fast with a single core, but not fast enough. I heard about AMD's Quad Core processors but I dont know if they have been released yet....does anyone know?. Would it be worth waiting for or should I just get an AMD Althon 64 x2?. I wanna be prepared for starcraft 2. Hell my video card sucks even more than the cpu, but I'll upgrade that when it comes out.

Stick with XP.

I don't like the fact that Microsoft is trying to take over and integrate online game play with xbox live. the only reason I would buy halo 2 vista would be to play it for free but now i find out it costs money. guess I'll be stuck making virtual lans with all my new games...![]()
I've read that Starcraft (not including hacks) should work on Vista 32-bit editions without any problems - if you're encountering problems, it's not directly a result of Vista versus XP, there may be some other issues that are not letting you install/play SC.
I like Vista's improved Start Menu, security, and a lot of its new features and GUI tweaks, but with its poor compatibility with most slightly-older software that works on XP, I'm definitely staying off Vista for at least another 1/2 year to one year.

Vista all the way.
Vista is generally capable of doing anything that XP can and more, just because the people from a gamehacking world design their programs around the older OS's, is not reason for staying behind the rest of the world. Vista is more then capable of running hacks, if the user is more knowledgeable. People complain about their spyware, and the overkill security features but if they were a enhanced person in updated and fluent technology they could easily take the initiative to find out, or locate how to disable them features and functions Microsoft has on your computer.
Dont blame the company for pressing for better education world wide, at least someone is taking the initiative to do it.
Anyone know if installing Vista 64 bit is a good idea? Because Vista already has problem recognizing hardwares.. but.. 64bit on top of that?? Good idea??
