(Wasn't sure where to post this... Fallout 3 isn't really an FPS, and "Other Games" is now a category, that I can't create threads in)
Anyone else got this game? I just bought it (Steam's selling it for 50% off this weekend), and it sucks :|
I get that part of it's appeal is in how "open" it is, allowing you do almost anything, but I've barely been out of the vault and I'm bored to death - would've been a million times better with a "run" option (that goes faster that the current supposed run speed - and I'm only carrying 100 out of 200+ weight, so it's not that, and "walking" is much slower). Seriously, do people just wonder around enjoying the scenery or what? Couldn't be slower, and less stimulating, if they tried.
Don't think I'm going to play it anymore, definitely don't have the time to waste. What happened to games being fun?

Bring up your pipboy and any previously discovered places that you have been to can be fast traveled to! (like CD said)
Its pretty cool game, but I was so annoyed because when you finished the main story line.. the game just ended.. you had to start again. I had so many side quests I wanted to do and I was only like level 8 (up to 20) so that was lame

My other problem is that it keeps crashing, usually when interacting with someone/something or during triggered events (such as walking into a room when something's supposed to happen - like waking Doc Church up).
I spend more time getting into my last saved game and "End Task"ing it than I'm actually getting to play it. I've got the Steam version, so it should automatically update itself to the latest patch?
Sigh. Game of the year my ass.
You can run faster by holding r, that puts away your weapon. Btw if your friend has this, as him to borrow the disk, then you don't need it any more, just load the game from the installation folder.

XCreepingDeathX and test-acc: thanks, I'll keep playing
kokokoko: I don't really see or feel a speed difference, but at least now I know how to put away my fists/bat (doesn't seem to work when I'm using a gun?).
I've turned off AntiAliasing and Anisotropic Filtering, which has caused it to crash less often, but not fixed it (I've got an nVidia 8800, and a 2.4ghz quadcore - so it's not like I don't have the processing power, and the frame rate was perfect with it on).
You can always cheat in the console if you want it to go faster
i bought this when it came out its a good game once it gets going but its buggy as **** it crashes alot at random
i had a sound loop every time i picked a lock the jiggleing sound just kept going and going (u have to save the game and reload to fixed that if it happens to u)
Near the end i had a funny bug with one of the paladins (i think thats what there called its been a while the guys in the power armor suits) where every time i loaded the game a palidan would spawn from mid air above me somewhere then sprint off into the distance at some stupidly high speed with from memory i think he was a rocket lancher guy? or something he had a big ass gun anyway i tried to follow him many times but he was to way fast
i didnt buy the expansion because of how buggy the first one was it gave me the ****s theres nothing worse then when ur really into a game and it crashes espically whenu been playing for a couple of hours and didnt save.
the game is awsome when its working but the realiablity is what kills it. its like they had the awsome idea for a game put heaps of time into it then half way through makeing the game got they got stoned and said "meh i cbf anymore that will do stuff testing it" i even tried reinstalling and both patchs at the time but they didnt fix anything

Still keeps crashing, and so far I've tried:
* using Windows compatibility
* running in window mode
* disabling AntiAliasing and Anisotropic Filtering
* ffdshow audio exclusion thing (the "official" bug fix advice)
* the INI setting for quad cores
* updating Fallout 3 to patch 1.6

I think it's safe to say this game is glitched to hell - it's like HellGate all over again. From bodies bouncing on the floor (repeatedly "colliding" with it), to items and bodies spawning when you enter areas (ripples as items land in the water, or bodies knocking things over as they fall) - like really, how lame do you get? :(
That said the gameplay's kinda cool, but it's frustrating that vendors have such limited cash and that enemies can shoot so much more accurately than you can ?!?! Apart from all of that, I'm rather enjoying the game - when it actually works.
You should be able to put ur gun away, I just hold r....
I got the same stuff(same comp stuff< graphics, processor), try running the game with out the cd, from the program files folder.

The pirated version contains missing files, crashes around Mr. Burke and other scripted events. There's a fix around somewhere...

One of the reasons you're getting so many crashes is that the newest patch introduced a wealth of new bugs, and steam auto updates you to the latest version. I play using the second patch and a mod called fakepatch which allows me to get all of the benefits of the newer patches without *most* of the crashing.

Try uninstalling and do what that other guys said play with a earlier version of the patch. Or get the patch he was talking about.
